bandung at night credit to appetitejourney.com
Back to a couple years ago, 20 minutes from our place, we could view a night city scene from above. It was a really beautiful sight. Moreover, this was like a secret place for us as only a few people knew the place.

One day we planned a birthday surprise for our friend Selvy. We have prepared a birthday cake and candles, and we wanted to bring her to our secret place. We always met weekly for youth fellowship, so after it was over, we ‘kidnapped’ Selvy. We covered her eyes, tied her hands to prevent her open the eyes cover. She tried to struggle for a while, but then she gave up and willing to follow us. So we all went to the place by car… and made sure she was happy a long the way.

When we arrived, we lighted the candles and put the cake in front of her…. Right in the dark place, under a beautiful night starry sky with a night city view, we uncovered her eyes and said HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

We also brought a guitar, sang Happy Birthday song and prayed for her. It was a sweet memories for me who celebrate her birthday, and I am sure it will be an unforgettable day for her as well.

night scenery credit to www.megapixel.netDo you know a great scenery nearby? Bring your special one to that place to celebrate a special day, with the eyes covered by a handkerchief or a piece of cloth.
If needed, tie his/her hands up too! Just to make sure she/he doesn’t open the eyes’ cover. Don’t forget to bring a birthday cake with candles!

Tips:

  • The place must near enough to reach… 20 minutes is maximal time to cover someone’s eyes, or else he/she will be upset. :D
  • You can bring some friends along, and celebrate this together. May be they come by separate car to make more surprises.
  • Think it first before you do this plan, may be he/she is a rebel type person that will not obey you to cover his eyes. You don’t want this plan to be ruined because of his/her rebellion.

newspapersI made this newspaper on year 2000 for my hubby. I haven’t deliver my baby yet so I have much time to do this :) Ok, let’s start to make it from scratch… I try to explain it as much as I can remember, because it has been 7 years ago!

Let’s say, we will make an extra edition for a girl friend.

Here’s the steps we will do:

1. Contact her friends and family, emails are more effective as they can submit their writings via emails.

2. Find a local newspaper that will be a model of your newspaper-to-be. Try to make it from a newspaper she used to read and subscribe at home.

3. While waiting for the articles from her friends, you can made a header and a headline. Start to write a headline if you think a headline has to be written by yourself because headline is the most important part of the newspaper. Below is the header example I made:

4. You also can find some beautiful quotes, her favorite song’s lyric, or may be your favorite poems, verses, pictures, something like that. These are useful to fill in the blank space in the newspaper later.

5. After you receive the articles, choose or separate the articles according to the topics and put a title if they haven’t got one. The most easy way to do this for me is by copy the articles from emails and paste them to the Microsoft Words, or you can ask them to submit the articles in Words from (*.doc).

6. Make lay out and mounting, get them photocopied, put the pictures and done!

7. Plan a way you want to give the newspaper to her and yes, you have made her day brighter… :)

Now let’s go to the details. The first thing we must have materials for the news content. All you have to do is contact friends and family to write about her.

How to get valuable and interesting materials : Read the rest of this entry »

I am writing from free internet at Sheraton Hotel Bandung… what a great day. Today is my hubby’s birthday. As I told you, I was prepared a particular surprise for him. Now, all my plan is done successfully… Happy… happy… happy… my hubby is happy, my children is happy and I am happy as well… thank God!

The birthday surprise is coming in one package… I divided this package in 3 surprises, as in case one of them was failed, there were still 2 suprises that might succeded.. :-)

I began to celebrate his birthday surprise by giving him a Before Birthday Surprise Party!
I called his close friends and invited them to a restaurant at 7 pm. Yesterday was 7 - 7 -07, so many people married at this date… Thank God, 3 couples of our friends could come. I told my hubby that we have invitation and we went to the restaurant while his friends were waiting.
He didn’t expected nor suspicious at all. In fact, I held a surprise birthday party one day before the exact birthday! And surrounding with friends that care was always warmth our heart…

Filed Under (Spouse birthday, birthdays idea) by inspirationsbank

Ideas to celebrate your spouse birthday. This Sunday is my husband’s birthday…and I have something I can’t tell you yet to give him birthday celebration… but here’s some ideas I have done before especially for my hubby:

1. Make a simple scrapbook about our relationship history, with cartoons and love letters in it.
What you can add in your book:

  • Write a note how both of you met and interested in each other.
  • Write some important dates you want to memorize, some memorable events for you two.
  • Find some illustrations, cartoons or may be pictures of you.
  • Make a simple chart about something… I made funny chart about his efforts to win my heart.
  • Make a list about what you love about him.
  • Print all your notes on art papers, and make it bundled creatively like a handicraft. It will be a valuable gift ever!>

2. Make a newsletter with his news as headlines!

I made this in the first year of our marriage life. 2 weeks before his birthday I sent emails to his friend asking them to write something about my hubby. Some of them wrote about their experience with him in highschool, some wrote about his personality and how they like him and some of them wrote about funny stories of him. I also sent some questions to his other friends to be answered : If only he were a millionaire, what do you think?

Thank God his friends were so helpful and I got bunch of articles for this newspaper. I printed and mounted the articles in one large paper - realnewspapersize. After that I got them all fotocopied. Tadaaa… I have some pages of special edition newspaper!

I woke him up in the morning and told him that he was in the headlines… and he was very surprise! He almost cried when he read the articles from his friends. He was really happy.

3. Throw a surprise birthday party!

Contact his close friends and invite them to dinner birthday party. Don’t forget to order a birthday cake. Ask him to come home or go with him to the restaurant. This idea is very simple yet effective to make his birthday memorable.
